Fight week is here and Iím so excited to be coming back to Boston for this fight and honored to be leading the charge of bringing the sport of boxing back to Boston. This week was more low key then previous weeks of training. As you get closer to the fight the workouts get less intense. My last day of sparring was Wednesday and my last day of strength and conditioning was Saturday. I received a lot of positive feedback regarding the article about my career in the Sunday edition of the Boston Globe. I have to thank Kevin Dupont for taking the time and writing a really great article. Thanks! The support Iíve been getting from my fanfamily has been amazing and makes me feel blessed and provides extra motivation for me. It also helps ease the loneliness when Diane and Liam are away.
Looking ahead I have a light workout with Coach Ronnie on Tuesday morning and then we are hitting the airport for Boston! You can catch me on 98.5 sports hub with Toucher and Rich on Wednesday and of course the weigh in Wednesday night at McGreevyís.

Less than 2 weeks away from the fight and I put in another solid week of camp. This week of training we zeroed in on getting great rounds of sparring. All of the things Iíve been working on with Ronnie were used in the different sparring sessions. Sparring is part of training where you can really test out your game plan. In all three of my sessions I felt great and Iím prepared to go a hard ten rounds. Outside, of the gym I spent a lot of time watching film on my opponent. Being a student of the game and studying film is important if you want to be fully prepared for a fight. There is no better way to come up with a game plan than to analyze your opponentís strengths and weaknesses.
Part of the game that people donít always realize is the mental preparation. You have to learn to control your emotions. I still miss Diane and Liam and Iím anxiously awaiting the fight, but Iíve learned not to get overexcited and look too far ahead. Besides concentrating on my daily training Iíve made sure to get good quality sleep for recovery and overall well-being. Putting my excitement in check and going about my business isjust the attitude you need when wrapping up training camp. Iíll be putting the finishing touches on camp this week and look forward to seeing the fanfamily.

Another week of training camp in the books and one step closer to fight night. I had a great week of training with Ronnie per usual. I touched eight rounds of sparring and felt really sharp. There is no substitute for good sparring and one of the many advantages of being based in Houston, Texas. Strength and conditioning was more intense this week as we stepped up the sprinting and exercises. I can really feel the benefits during my sparring sessions.
Diane and Liam returned home this week to let me completely concentrate on the fight for these last few weeks of training camp. Itís for the best, but doesnít make me miss them any less. I kept busy outside of training by seeing a few movies and finishing all my medical exams for the fight. The week ended with a really great media day weekend back home in Boston. I have to thank my man Ken Casey for a special day of Boston sports. Saturday I sparred for the Channel 7 news cameras at Peter Welchís Gym in South Boston. On Sunday I was in the booth with Don Orsillo and Peter Gammons at the Red Sox game which was an amazing 17 innings! I also had face time courtside for the Celtics playoff victory over the Hawks. The Garden was rocking! The crazy weekend ended with an appearance on Sports Xtra with Joe Amorosino with Ken. The promotional stuff was exciting, but I still made training my first priority while I was home. Iím returning back to Texas to put the final touches on the training camp. See you soon Boston!!

What's up Clan OíConnor? I want to give you all a little insight into how training is coming along with these weekly updates. As another week of training camp comes to an end I'm feeling more in rhythm and in great fighting shape. Everything is coming together nicely. In the gym I touched 5 rounds sparring on 3 different days. In-between days I worked on technique with Coach Ronnie. Ronnie makes the sacrifice of being away from New England and Dunkin Donuts completely worth it. I feel like Iím improving everyday under him. Also, with my strength and condition coach Rick Karasch I worked on explosive power this week. Always have to be prepared to go the distance. We also opened up the lungs with some different sprinting exercises to compliment my roadwork.
I was disappointed to see the Bruins get bounced in the first round of NHL playoffs, but it was exciting while it lasted. Iím still going to wear my jersey proudly into the ring on fight night. Hereís hoping the Celtics can make a push this year. Boston has been called title town with all our recent success and my goal is to add a world title to the collection. Iím looking forward to another week of getting after it, hard work as a lifestyle! Can't wait until May 24 for my homecoming! I want to encourage all of my fans (Clan OíConnor) to create a crazy atmosphere and prove to the world that Boston is still a boxing town.
